Remind eligible part-timers they can join

Part-time employees are eligible to join the Plan next year if they’ve met hours and earnings requirements.

The requirements to meet in 2006 in order to be able to join in 2007 include:

• working at least 700 hours; or
• earning at least $14,735, which is 35 per cent of the 2006 YMPE

Please make these individuals aware that they are eligible to join the Plan in 2007 and provide them with the Enrolment for Part-timers booklet, which you can order here via our online order form.

If an employee who is eligible to join the Plan elects not to, HOOPP recommends that you have them sign a waiver acknowledging that they are aware of their opportunity to join and elect not to. A sample waiver letter can be found on the Enrolment forms & waivers page.
