90 days’ Notice Required for Retirements
This is a reminder that, as explained in an earlier broadcast e-mail, HOOPP requires 90 days’ notice from receipt of a Retirement Notice to put a pension into pay.
What this means is that, effective June 30, in order for a pension to start on the desired date of Nov. 1, 2007, the Retirement Notice would have to be received by HOOPP no later than July 31, 2007.
Members will be reminded as well
HOOPP will also be reminding members of the need to provide at least 90 days’ notice of their retirement through the member newsletter, Pension Update – online and in print – as well as in the relevant sections of the hoopp.com website, including the pension calculator and the Retirement Planning section, at member presentations and on the Retirement Notice itself. Members will be advised as well, using the same channels, that they also must complete all paperwork they receive from HOOPP by the deadlines stated on the documents in order to ensure their pension starts on the date they request.
