How Part-timers Can Join HOOPP
As someone who works part time, you can join right away if your employer waives the qualification requirement, or in the year following a year in which you:
- work at least 700 hours
- earn at least $15,715 (this is 35 per cent of the year's maximum pensionable earnings)
To meet these requirements, you can add together your hours or earnings from more than one HOOPP employer and you can include percentage in lieu of benefits or overtime pay

Contact your human resources department if you've reached either of these milestones. If you have, they'll fill out the necessary paperwork to enrol you in HOOPP!
If you don't become a member in that year, you must re-qualify before you can join.
Remaining a member
Once you've joined HOOPP, there are no minimum hours or earnings that must be met to continue your membership from year to year.
While joining the Plan is usually optional for part-timers, you cannot opt out once you're a member.
