Working For You, and We’re Members Too!

Meet Sonya, Pension Specialist and HOOPP member. She is currently working in the Training Department, but began her HOOPP career working on our systems project and then helping members and pensioners directly as a Member Services Specialist.

“Working for a pension plan got me thinking about preparing for retirement a lot earlier than I think I would have otherwise. I mean when you are in your twenties, you don’t think about your fifties and sixties, but it’s never too early to plan.”

She says when she began working at HOOPP she was told, “treat every member and pensioner that you deal with as if they were a member of your family.”

Her greatest satisfaction has come from hearing back from her HOOPP family members that she’s been a big help.

There are three things Sonya says you can do to help us serve you better:

• keep us up to date on your address and personal information
• ensure your employer informs us of any changes in your employment status
• take the time to read any correspondence from HOOPP carefully

Sonya is proud of the benefits HOOPP provides members, and says “the future looks good, with our new system service is going to get better and better.” Plus, she says her job is going to get even more interesting, with increased opportunities to learn and work on a wider variety of cases and types of transactions.
