Board Appointments for 2008

HOOPP is starting off the new year with a new Chair and Vice-Chair.

Kelly Butt, appointed by the Ontario Hospital Association, will be HOOPP's Chair in 2008. Our Vice-Chair will be Marcelle Goldenberg, Executive Vice-President, Service Employees International Union Local 1.on. They will switch roles in 2009.

Three new Trustees will join the Board in 2008.

Adrian Foster leads the Telecom and Business Services practices of McLean Foster & Co. in Ottawa. He's also a Governor for the Ottawa Hospital and a member of several hospital committees. He was appointed to the board by the Ontario Hospital Association.

R. Wayne Gladstone, a former Senior Vice-President of Finance and Administration at OMERS and CEO of Gladstone Consulting, serves on the Lakeridge Health Services Board of Directors. He was appointed to the Board by the Ontario Hospital Association.

Patty Rout is First Vice-President and Treasurer of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. She was appointed to the Board by OPSEU.

Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN has been appointed as a non-voting Pension Observer to the Board. She's the President of the Ontario Nurses' Association.

HOOPP is governed by an independent Board of Trustees made up of 16 voting members. Eight trustees are appointed by the Ontario Hospital Association, and four unions each appoint two trustees. Those unions are Ontario Nurses' Association, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Ontario Public Service Employees' Union and the Service Employees International Union. There can be two non-voting pension observers on the Board.

The Board has four committees – here are the committee members for 2008.

Plan Committee: Dan Anderson (Chair), Helen Fetterly, Warren Chant, Adrian Foster.

Investment Committee: Deepak Shukla (Chair), James Sanders, David Alexander, Marcia Gillespie.

Governance Committee: Marcelle Goldenberg (Chair), Greg Shaw, Kelly Butt, Louis Rodrigues.

Audit & Finance Committee: Ron Meredith-Jones (Chair), Wayne Gladstone, Deborah Menzies, Lesley Bell.
