2007 Changes to Annual Statements
The statements members received in 2007 were the first produced by HOOPP's new system, and were delivered by a new process.
Here’s a summary of the changes.
Sent by mail to member home address
Our new system allows HOOPP to send member annual statements directly to your home – and the vast majority were. (A very small group of employers opted to continue distributing statements to members at work.)
An important note – if you live in a rural area, HOOPP needs your full "911" mailing address with street name, number, and postal code. We are not able to send statements to rural route addresses.
If HOOPP does not have your address on file, and can’t find an updated address for you, you’ll receive your statement via your employer. For that reason, it’s very important that you let HOOPP know whenever your address changes by completing a Member Change of Information Form and sending it to HOOPP.
Personalized statement, no booklet
Thanks to HOOPP’s new system, we’ve done away with the generic booklet that used to be provided in statement packages to explain terminology. Now, details of your benefits have been consolidated with the explanatory information that applies to you.
Your statement is a bit longer, but it is custom-tailored to your situation.
Statements sent as soon as they’re ready
In the past, HOOPP used to run about 80 per cent of the statements for members at a specific organization at one time. Now, batches of statements are produced weekly as soon as data received from your employer is validated.
Data received from your employer is checked by HOOPP. In some cases, we follow up with employers to clarify certain data elements. Once all is correct, that data is posted on your record so that your statement can be produced.
This means some members get their statements earlier than others. If that happens at your organization, don’t worry – your statement has not been missed, it will just be coming to you in a later run.
