Reporting to the Director - Real Estate and Private Equities, this position is responsible for the maintenance of various database systems, property and investment portfolio level accounting and administration, analysis and research, and portfolio investment management reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for ongoing monitoring of external asset manager activities, maintaining the MRI and Vision Databases, performing portfolio accounting and reporting functions for real estate assets.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Monthly processing of electronic data transfer from external asset/property managers into the Vision Database. Identify and resolve data integrity/quality issues with external managers
  • Consolidate numerous data files. Import data from Vision into MRI
  • Process monthly manual entries in MRI for external managers not utilizing automated process. Responsible for monthly closing procedures in MRI
  • Process daily cash entries in MRI and ensure that supporting documentation is complete. Reconcile on a monthly basis to Portia
  • Monthly reconciliation of equities accounts for all real estate legal entities
  • Generate monthly data validation/integrity reports in MRI. Prepare financial and commercial data mapping for various assets. Ensure all data issues identified are resolved on a timely basis
  • Prepare and maintain an accurate and complete database of all real estate asset holdings
  • Responsible for the set up of new assets in MRI and the update of appraisal information
  • Responsible for compiling and submitting HOOPP data file to IPD (real estate benchmark)
  • Reconciliation of G/L accounts and preparation of monthly management reports
  • Communicate to external managers regarding deadlines, data and reconciliation issues
  • Assist with the year-end process and regulatory reporting
  • Special Projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate university degree and an accounting designation (CMA,CGA,) or working towards one would be an asset
  • IT background with prior experience with ACCESS database and MRI would be an asset
  • Experience in real estate accounting (Both financial and tenant/lease experience)
  • Strong analytical skills in resolving complex data issues
  • Proactive self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of MS Office; demonstrated experience with Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
