Changing employers or looking for a new one?

At termination choosing the “decision pending” option gives you the opportunity to link your HOOPP benefits together.

Going immediately to another HOOPP employer

By choosing decision pending, when you start your new job you’ll have the option of linking the service earned at your previous job with the service you’ll earn at your new job.

By linking your service you’ll ensure you optimize your contributory service and minimize any early retirement reductions that would be applied to your pension if you retire before age 60.

Looking for work at another HOOPP employer

The decision pending option means you have six months to find a job at a HOOPP employer. When you join a new HOOPP employer you’ll have the option of linking the service earned at your previous job with the service you’ll earn at your new job.

By linking your service you’ll ensure you optimize your contributory service and minimize any early retirement reductions that would be applied to your pension if you retire before age 60.

During the six months of decision pending you will build no further benefits in the Plan. If you do not join the Plan at another HOOPP employer, we will provide you with new termination options at the end of the decision pending period.
