Decision Pending
Moving to another HOOPP employer
At termination choosing the "decision pending" option gives you the opportunity to link your HOOPP benefits together.
By choosing decision pending, when you start your new job you may be able to link the service earned at your previous job with the service you'll earn at your new job.
By linking your service you'll ensure you optimize your contributory service and minimize any early retirement reductions that would be applied to your pension if you retire before age 60.
The decision pending option means you have six months to find a job at a HOOPP employer, re-enrol in the Plan and resume making contributions.
If you are moving to a part-time job, you will have to meet the hours and earnings requirements for part-timers before you can re-enrol, unless the new employer waives those requirements.
During the six months of decision pending you will build no further benefits in the Plan. If you do not resume making contributions within the six-month decision pending period, we will provide you with new termination options at the end of the decision pending period.
