pension calculator. If you don't find the answer you're looking
for, please contact us at info@hoopp.com.
• I have an older computer - will that cause problems?

• How can I tell my operating system?
• When I printed the results information got cut off. What can I do?
• Does the estimate take into account CPP and OAS?
Q. I have an older computer - will that cause problems?
A. Yes, it could. Your computer should have the following specifications for the pension calculator to run optimally:
- Operating system: Windows 98 or higher
- Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 or higherr
- Browser: Internet Explorer 5 or higher, or Netscape 4.7 or higher
- Browser settings: medium security level, Active Scripting enabled
Also, the calculator doesn't work optimally on some Mac computers.
Q. How can I tell what browser version I am using?
A. Open your browser. On the menu bar (at the top of the browser), click on "Help" and then choose the last option, either "About Internet Explorer" or "About Netscape." You'll find the version number there.
Q. How can I tell what operating system my computer uses?
A. If your computer is running Windows, right-click on the "My Computer" icon and then select the last option, "Properties." The version of your operating system should appear under the System header.
Q. When I printed the results information got cut off. What can I do?
A. Go to File, then Print, and then Properties. Be sure your print preference is changed to "Landscape" from "Portrait."
Q. Does the calculated amount take into account what I will receive from Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security?
A. No. Our calculator only provides you with your HOOPP benefit entitlements. The federal government does have its own calculator that provides your CPP and OAS entitlements. Try HRDC's Canadian Retirement Income Calculator.
Q. When I answered whether or not I was using my annual statement, the calculator would not proceed. What can I do?
A. This may be a security issue. Data has to be passed back and forth between your computer and ours.
The IT departments at some organizations have built firewalls to block such data transfers. Another possible cause could be that the security levels of your browser are set too high for the calculator to work. For instance, Active Scripting must be enabled in order to function.
This could also be a browser issue. In order to use the calculator, you need to be running Internet Explorer versions 5.0 or higher or Netscape 4.7 or higher.
The calculator also doesn't work optimally on some Mac computers.
